The Game Developers Conference is open March 16 – 20, 2020, in San Francisco, California, the industry’s largest trade show.  Numerous exhibitors will be present, including Oculus.  A recently-issued patent is U.S. Patent No. 10,341,537, (‘537) issued July 2, 2019, entitled “Spectator View into an Interactive Gaming World Showcased in a Live Event Held in a Real-World Venue.”  The inventor is Bhaswar Sarkar of San Mateo, California.  The applicant/assignee is Sony Interactive Entertainment America LLC of San Mateo, California.

The specification discloses embodiments for an eSports gaming environment which includes various embodiments, including one embodiment for a virtual reality (VR) POV setting, and another embodiment for a 3-dimensional (3D) live streaming environment.

[T]he various embodiments of the present disclosure describe methods and systems for participating in a live event (e.g., live eSports event including competitive video gaming) by a remote user as a virtual audience member.  (‘537 patent, p. 27, col. 1, lns. 36-40.)

The claims are directed to the method and computer readable medium of live event gaming environment, comprising the 3D generation and streaming, and remote user receiving a VR interactive gaming environment.

The Cooperative Patent Classifications are H04N, pictorial communication, e.g., television, namely, studio circuitry, devices, or equipment related to virtual studio applications (5/2224), with means for inserting a foreground image in a background image (5/272), stereoscopic video systems for generating image signals corresponding to three or more geometrical viewpoints (13/282), and selective content distribution, e.g., interactive television or video on demand processing of content or additional data (21/23) with end-user applications (21/47); A63F, card, board or roulette games, namely, video games, i.e., games using an electronically generated display having two or more dimensions characterized by a large display in a public venue (13/27).
