U.S. Patent No. D861,266 S – CES Edition

CES 2020 will open January 7 – 10, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada, bringing to the world’s eyes gadgets and technology from startups all over the globe.  Home appliances are always a popular draw at CES.  This year, we spotlight one of these home appliance patents.  A product that will be shown at CES is the “Cleaning Robot,” U.S. Patent No. D861,266 S, issued September 24, 2019.  The inventors are David D’Souza and Mina Bassalious of Brampton, Canada, and Hao Li of North York, Canada.  The applicant/assignee is home appliance tech startup Altan Robotech Inc., of Mississauga, Canada.

The single claim is directed to the ornamental features of the vacuum design.

The Cooperative Patent Classifications are E04H (buildings or like structures for particular purposes; swimming or splash baths or pools; masts; fencing; tents or canopies specially adapted for cleaning with self-propelled cleaners (4/1654)); A47L (domestic washing or cleaning; suction cleaners in general, namely, robotic cleaning machines (2201/00) with docking stations or docking operations (2201/02), automatic control of the travelling movement and automatic obstacle detection (2201/04), and control of the cleaning action for autonomous devices (2201/06), and nozzles with driven brushes or agitators with dust-loosening tools (9/0461)).

In addition, GIDDEL® is a standard character word trademark and service mark registered U.S. Registration No. 5,795,516 on July 2, 2019, in two International Classes: Class 7, for “Automated cleaning devices and household cleaning robots, namely, robotic vacuum cleaners, robotic mops, robotic sponges, robotic toilet cleaners, robotic sink cleaners, robotic bathtub cleaners, and robotic shower cleaners; structural and replacement parts and fittings for robotic vacuum cleaners, robotic mops, robotic sponges, robotic toilet cleaners, robotic sink cleaners, robotic bathtub cleaners and robotic shower cleaners, namely, sponges, mops, brushes, vacuum bags, soap containers and dispensers, batteries, charges, electrical cords, screws and face plates,” and Class 37, for “Maintenance and repair services for robotic cleaning devices, automated cleaning appliances and cleaning robots.”
