U.S. Patent No. 10,179,694 B2 (‘694) issued on November 20, 2018, for “Constant Illuminated Tamper-Resistant Plant Shipping Container.”  It was issued to applicant/inventor Larry D. Fenner, Jr. of Bellingham, Washington.  The assignee is THC Acquisition Corp. of Kelowna, British Columbia.  THC BioMed Ltd. is the parent company, a Canadian medical cannabis company.

The ‘694 patent discloses a shipping container which includes a potting vessel for the plant and soil, and a lighting source.  The novelty of the claimed invention goes to the potting vessel, which can contain live plant material, with soil, and a lighting element to assist the shipping plants in a vegetative or flowering growth stage.  The claims are directed to the container apparatus including the potting vessel, washer, lid, elastic sealing cover, light source, and tamper resistant indicator.

The Cooperative Patent Classifications are B65D (containers for storage or transport of articles or materials, e.g., bags, barrels, bottles, boxes, cans, cartons, crates, drums, jars, tanks, hoppers, fowarding containers; accessories, closures or fittings therefor; packaging elements), and A01G (horticulture and cultivation of vegetables, flowers, rice, fruit, vines, hops of seaweed).
